The Itinerary of Casablanca Sahara Desert Tour (12 Days)
Embark on a 12-day adventure across Morocco, starting and ending in Casablanca. This immersive tour takes you through Morocco's imperial cities and the captivating Sahara Desert. Discover the cultural richness and historical wonders of Rabat, Meknes, Fes, and Marrakech. Wander through ancient medinas, shop in vibrant souks, and marvel at the architectural beauty of historic mosques. Experience desert life with a camel trek over the golden dunes of the Sahara, overnight stays in a luxury desert camp, and breathtaking views as you cross the majestic Atlas Mountains.
Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca & Transfer to Marrakech
Upon arrival at Casablanca airport, meet your guide who will take you to visit the Hassan II Mosque, Africa’s largest mosque. Marvel at the exquisite architecture built partly over the ocean. After exploring Casablanca, travel to Marrakech (approx. 2 hours by car) and check into a nice riad for a restful night.
Day 2: Full-Day Marrakech City Tour
After breakfast, meet your local guide for a tour of Marrakech’s old medina. Explore the Majorelle Gardens, known for their exotic plants and striking blue architecture. Continue to the Menara Gardens and the Bahia Palace, a 19th-century architectural masterpiece. End your day in Jemaa el-Fna, the bustling main square filled with musicians, food stalls, and street performers. Return to your riad for the evening.
Day 3: Day Trip to Essaouira
Travel to the coastal town of Essaouira (approx. 2.5 hours each way). This UNESCO-protected city is famous for its preserved ramparts, historic seaport, and artisan workshops. Explore the medina, visit the fish market, and observe local craftsmen at work. Return to Marrakech in the evening and relax in your riad.
Day 4: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges
Depart Marrakech for the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass. Visit the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and famous film location. Continue to Ouarzazate to see the Atlas Film Studios and Taourirt Kasbah. Drive through the Valley of Roses and Skoura Oasis, arriving at Dades Gorges in the evening. Overnight in a local nice hotel.
Day 5: Dades Gorges – Todgha Gorges – Merzouga
Journey through Tinghir to the dramatic Todgha Gorges, where towering canyon walls reach 300 meters. Continue to Erfoud, known for its fossilized treasures. Arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Erg Chebbi Dunes. In the evening, settle into your hotel and enjoy a traditional dinner.
Day 6: Merzouga Desert Adventure & Camel Trek
Day 7: Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Meknes
Witness the sunrise over the dunes before returning to Merzouga. Visit Rissani Market (on market days, lively on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays), then continue through the lush Ziz Valley, famous for its date palm groves. Pass through Midelt, known for apple production, and visit Azrou forest, where you may spot Barbary apes. Arrive in Meknes for an overnight stay.
Day 8: Meknes – Volubilis – Fes
Day 9: Full-Day Fes City Tour
Discover the wonders of Fes el Bali, the old medina and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Key highlights include: Bab Bou Jeloud (Blue Gate), Al Quaraouiyine University, the world’s oldest continuously operating educational institution, Tanneries, where leather is dyed using traditional methods Nejjarine Museum of Wooden Arts & Crafts, The Royal Palace and the Jewish Quarter. Enjoy a panoramic view of the city before returning to your riad.
Day 10: Fes – Chefchaouen
Travel to Chefchaouen, the “Blue Pearl” of Morocco (approx. 4 hours drive). This picturesque town in the Rif Mountains is known for its blue-washed buildings and relaxed atmosphere. Spend the day exploring the medina, visiting the Kasbah Museum, and enjoying local cuisine. Overnight in a charming riad.
Day 11: Chefchaouen – Rabat – Casablanca
Depart Chefchaouen and drive to Rabat, Morocco’s capital. Visit the Hassan Tower, Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas. Continue to Casablanca for your final night.
Day 12: Departure from Casablanca
After breakfast, we will transfer you to Casablanca Airport for your departure flight, concluding your unforgettable Moroccan adventure. Note: This itinerary is customizable based on your preferences.
